Healthy Communities Portal

The Canadian Institute of Planners has launched a portal linking the planning and development of healthy communities in Canada to our built environment, community design and active living, age-friendly communities, First Nations, mental health, active transportation and housing needs.  Special thanks to the CIP staff, volunteers and planning professionals from across Canada who have worked on this initiative.

Ryerson Presentation, April 24th

I am pleased to be giving a presentation on April 24th to the teaching staff at the faculties of planning, occupational health and community services at Ryerson University in Toronto. The focus will be on opportunities to promote collaboration between the health and planning professions, to mitigate the health impacts of our built environment, and to explore the role universities can / should play in fostering that collaboration.

Diabetes Care in Atlantic Canada

Currently working on a report to promote collaboration, break down silos, form care teams and embrace a “circle of care” approach, improve communications, and enhance the overall effectiveness of diabetes management in Atlantic Canada. The report follows a successful forum held in early November, that brought stakeholders from across the region together to address this pressing health care issue. The project is sponsored by the Canadian Diabetes Association and funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
