Dave has been playing trumpet since high school and is self-taught on guitar. Taking a break to help raise his family, he joinied the Chebucto Big Band in 1989, where, under the wing of some of Nova Scotia’s top jazz instructors, he sharpened his chops and found his groove.
Since 2000, Dave’s been crafting and producing his own music which crosses multiple genres. His own productions include Outpost (2000), Dave Harrison & Friends (2010), Reflections (2015) and the global Rhythms of Life with The Moja Makani Band (2016). He's also overseen demo productions for Moments Notice Jazz Quintet (2005) and The FOG (2018).
Dave has been recorded with other artists including Shirley Jackson & Her Good Rockin' Daddys' Comfort Food (2006), When The Money’s All Gone (2012) and Things Keep Looking Up (2017); also Rick Jeffrey’s Thirteen Vultures (2009) and Frank MacKay’s It Takes All Kinds to Make A World (2010).
